About the Speed Cop Hello. My name is John Shaw. I am Sergeant Shono Merci aka The Speed Cop. The Speed Cop is a part of the Aussie Sports Fun Time Group which since 1999 has specialised in creating and providing fun with ball sports using speed radar technology.
The group is comprised of the following businesses: The Speed Cop originated soon after I first acquired a speed radar gun in Sept 1999. While the radar gun maker advised it would measure baseball speeds they did not know if it would measure a golf ball. Basically I was told to go find out! I went to the local golf club, stood behind a player as he was about to tee off and hoped. It worked first go! The player's team mates then also wanted to have their speeds measured. The following team too. I knew I was definitely onto something. I just had to figure out how to turn it into a business. My ever fertile imagination then went to work on how to make using a speed radar gun on a golf course interesting, challenging and fun for the players. It also had to be something that was good enough to offer as a unique service to corporate and charity golf day organisers. Within the week the Speed Cop concept was born. The Speed Cop character and concept have developed considerably since its very first appearance in October 1999. I am still constantly working on new ideas to make it an even better service for clients and an even more enjoyable experience for the players. Since 1999 I have appeared at over 500 corporate and charity golf days in 4 states. Though based in Brisbane I do travel Australia wide. I am literally a “have gun, will travel” operative. Because of demand there is now also a back up cop - Sgt Gunna Bookya. The Chip ‘n’ Stik games are another one of my creations and first appeared in mid 2003.
